Dotbite

A business model that holds up in a spreadsheet

How the product earns, worked out properly.

We work through the commercial side of digital products with founders and companies. Revenue model, pricing, unit economics, and the assumptions the whole thing rests on. Based in Vienna, working with clients across Europe.

Boritea, qondition and upgr8 worked out their pricing with us.

Business Modeling and Pricing in Vienna.

Plenty of good products fail commercially. The build was fine, the pricing was guessed, and the numbers only got examined once growth was supposed to happen and did not.

We use the business model canvas as a working tool rather than a workshop artefact. Who pays, what for, through which channel, and what it costs you to serve them. Then we go after the numbers underneath, because a model is only as good as the assumptions holding it up. Which of them, if wrong, breaks the plan. What has to be true about conversion, retention or price for this to work at all.

Pricing gets its own attention, because it moves revenue more than almost anything else you decide, and gets the least analysis of any of it. Per seat, per usage, tiered or flat. Where the free tier ends. What you charge the customer who costs you ten times more to serve.

This pairs naturally with conception when the product itself is still open, and with MVP development when the point is to test the model with real customers.

What you get with Dotbite in business modeling

  • A revenue model with reasons. Who pays, for what, through which channel.
  • Pricing worked out. Per seat, usage or tiered, decided on the economics.
  • Unit economics. What each customer costs you to serve, and what that means.
  • The assumptions named. Which ones break the plan if they turn out wrong.
  • A business model canvas you use. A working document your team keeps returning to.
  • A way to test it. Put the model in front of real customers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in business modeling?
We work through how the product earns. At Dotbite that means the revenue model, the pricing, the unit economics and the assumptions the whole thing rests on, using the business model canvas as a working tool rather than a workshop artefact.
What does it cost?
It is a defined piece of work with a fixed price, and small compared to building the wrong thing. Most engagements run as a series of working sessions with your team rather than a report delivered from outside.
How long does it take?
Usually one to three weeks. The sessions themselves are short, and the time in between is what makes them useful, because assumptions need checking against real numbers rather than being agreed in the room.
We already have a business model, is this still useful?
Often the gap is between having a model and having tested the numbers underneath it. We go after which assumptions break the plan if they turn out wrong, and what has to be true about conversion, retention or price for it to work at all.
Do you help with pricing?
Yes, and it usually deserves the most attention. Pricing is the highest-impact decision most digital products make and the least analysed. Per seat, per usage, tiered or flat, where the free tier ends, and what you charge the customer who costs ten times more to serve.
