A web application earns its keep on the days it is under load. That is when architecture decisions made months earlier either hold or start costing you. We build with that day in mind, which mostly means being unglamorous about caching, queries and queues long before anyone is watching.
Our stack is Laravel on the back end, Vue and Tailwind on the front, running on Docker and cloud infrastructure. Where it fits, we build a progressive web app instead, installable and offline-capable, which saves you the cost of two app stores. When native really is the right answer, we say so and build that instead as app development.
We also take over existing applications. Someone else's code, a system that has grown past its foundations, or a build that stalled. We read it first, tell you honestly what we find, and then either extend it or modernize it.

What does a web application cost?
It depends on what the application has to do and how many people use it. At Dotbite we scope the requirements with you first, then quote a fixed price against the written specification. For applications we keep developing, a framework agreement covers the ongoing work.
How long does it take to build a web app?
A focused application can be live in about four weeks. Portals with accounts, permissions and integrations run twelve weeks or more. Scope drives the timeline, and content or feedback rounds on your side often decide the final date, so we agree those upfront.
What is a Progressive Web App and when is it worth it?
A progressive web app (PWA) is a web application people can install like an app, works offline and sends notifications, without going through the app stores. It is worth it when you want app-like behaviour without the cost and review cycles of two native builds.
How do you make sure the application stays fast under load?
By handling caching, database queries and background jobs before launch rather than after the first traffic spike. We test against realistic data volumes, because a query that is fast at ten thousand records often is not at two million.
Do you take over existing web applications?
Yes. Most of our work is building new systems, but we also take on code somebody else wrote. We read it first and give you an honest assessment, including what should be fixed before new features are added on top.
