We work with React Native and Expo when your product lives close to the web and needs to move fast. Expo is now the recommended way to start React Native projects, with over-the-air updates that let us ship fixes without waiting on App Store review. We reach for Flutter when the app needs pixel-perfect UI, heavy custom animation, or one design that runs identically across mobile, web and desktop. Quinn, our ECTS-tracking app for TU Wien, runs on Flutter across iOS and Android with more than 300,000 tracked hours.
A Progressive Web App is sometimes the smarter choice. Installable, offline-capable and fast, without the cost of two app stores. When it's the better fit for your product, we'll say so, and we build those too. Especially in the Requirements Engineering phase we'll figure out what works best for your project.

What does it cost to build an app?
It depends on the feature set and whether you need one platform (iOS OR Android) or both (iOS AND Android). At Dotbite we scope the requirements first, then quote a fixed price. Building cross-platform keeps this well below the cost of two separate native apps, which is why most projects go that route.
Native app or cross-platform, which is better?
For most business cases cross-platform wins, because one codebase covers iOS and Android with native performance. Native makes sense when you need deep hardware access or platform-specific behaviour that a shared layer cannot reach. We'll decide that with you during scoping and guide you through.
How long until the app is in the stores?
A first version takes anywhere from four to twelve weeks or more, depending heavily on scope. On top of that comes review time from Apple and Google, typically one to three days, though a rejection on first submission can add a round.
Do you handle publishing to the App Store and Play Store?
Yes. We set up the developer accounts if you do not have them, prepare store listings, screenshots and privacy declarations, and handle the submission. The accounts stay in your ownership, so the apps remain yours regardless of who maintains them later.
What does maintaining an app cost after launch?
Apps need more upkeep than web projects, because iOS and Android ship yearly releases that can break things. Budget for regular updates rather than one-off fixes. We handle this as an ongoing arrangement, sized to how often the app actually changes and how complex the app is.
