Dotbite

Requirements that leave no room for interpretation

The spec that makes the quote honest.

We turn a concept into requirements a team can build from without guessing. User stories, acceptance criteria, edge cases and the non-functional requirements everyone forgets until launch week. Based in Vienna, working with clients across Europe.

Fixmetall, Zurich Insurance and epunkt were scoped this way.

Requirements Engineering in Vienna.

Change a requirement while it is still a sentence in a document and it costs a conversation. Change it after it is built and it costs a sprint. Almost everything requirements engineering does comes back to that ratio.

We write the requirements with you rather than for you. User stories from the perspective of the people who will use the thing. Acceptance criteria specific enough that nobody has to interpret them later. The edge cases, which is where most of the real work hides. And the non-functional requirements, load, response times, data protection and availability, which are cheap to design for and expensive to add.

The part clients notice most is the questions. What happens when two people edit the same record. What the system does when the third-party API is down. Who is allowed to see this. These are the questions that turn into change requests if nobody asks them early.

You end up with a document a developer can build from and a quote you can hold us to. It works whether we build it or someone else does. If the idea is still taking shape, conception comes first.

What you get with Dotbite in requirements engineering

  • User stories from the user's side. Written around what people are trying to do.
  • Acceptance criteria that decide it. Specific enough that "done" is not an opinion.
  • The edge cases surfaced. The awkward questions asked while they are still cheap.
  • Non-functional requirements. Load, response times, availability and data protection.
  • A quote you can hold us to. The spec is what we price against.
  • Useful even if we don't build it. The document is yours either way.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is requirements engineering exactly?
Turning a concept into something a team can build from without guessing. At Dotbite that means user stories, acceptance criteria, the edge cases and the non-functional requirements like load, response times and data protection that everyone forgets until launch week.
What does it cost?
It is scoped and priced as its own piece of work, sized to how complex the system is. It is also what makes a reliable fixed price for the build possible, because nobody can quote honestly against requirements that do not exist yet.
How long does it take?
Typically one to two weeks for a mid-sized system. Larger platforms with many roles and integrations take longer. The time goes into the questions, and those questions are what turn into change requests later if nobody asks them now.
Could we skip this and start developing?
You can, and many projects do. The cost shows up later as rework, because changing a requirement while it is a sentence in a document takes a conversation, and changing it after it is built takes a sprint.
What if requirements change during the project?
They will, and the specification is what makes that manageable. Changes get priced against a known baseline, so you see what each one costs and decide whether it goes in now or later. Scope stays visible instead of quietly consuming the budget.
