Health should not be complicated. It needs to be user-centered.
The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated that medical tests do not always need to be conducted by healthcare professionals. In response to this revelation, Boritea made it their mission to create a digital platform that standardizes home-based testing, making health management more accessible and straightforward for everyone.
Navigating the regulatory landscape for this project presented significant challenges. Ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory requirements at all times was paramount. To achieve this, we had think about robust algorithms that guaranteed accurate and reliable results, fostering trust and confidence among patients, customers, and governmental bodies. Our system had to be transparent and reliable to gain acceptance and ensure that all stakeholders understood the processes involved.
Moreover, addressing the common perception of complexity in medical procedures, we had to be focused on designing an intuitive user interface. This interface should be crafted to guide patients seamlessly through each step of the testing process, eliminating confusion and making the experience as straightforward as possible. Our goal was to ensure that users could easily comprehend what actions were required next, thereby reducing anxiety and enhancing the overall user experience.
By prioritizing user-centric design and stringent regulatory compliance, Boritea had to develop a platform that not only meets high standards of accuracy and reliability but also provides a simplified, user-friendly experience. Only that approach could have ensured that home-based testing can be conducted with ease, safety, and confidence, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes and a more efficient healthcare system.
Objectives
Establish new standards
An essential aspect of our work was integrating a streamlined user experience with electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) processes, thereby alleviating the administrative burdens on our clients. Leveraging our specialized expertise developed through the “Alles gurgelt!” initiative, we possessed a comprehensive understanding of the requirements necessary to successfully execute this project.
Foremost, we ensured that the product we developed could accommodate future use cases, anticipating the evolving needs of our customers. This foresight led us to the strategic decision to build a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform capable of being white-labeled for each client. This approach allows our clients to customize their individual testing processes, maintain operational flexibility, and present the web application in their own corporate identity.
Our solution focuses on three critical components: data collection, digital explanations of physical products, and data transfer, including retransfer. To achieve maximum adaptability, these modular components are also designed to be configurable on a per-customer basis, ensuring each client can tailor the platform to their specific requirements.
In addition to modular flexibility, regulatory compliance was a paramount concern. To address this, we implemented a robust, AI-based Face-Recognition Feature that enables users to upload their identification documents. This step is crucial for verifying the authenticity of the individual conducting the self-test, ensuring that the person’s identity matches the information previously entered into the platform, but also check the face of the person while doing the test with the photo of the ID. This not only enhances security but also builds trust among users and regulatory bodies.
By combining user-centric design with advanced eKYC solutions, Boritea frees up valuable administrative resources for their customers. The SaaS model ensures that customers can seamlessly integrate their unique testing workflows while maintaining compliance and security standards. This comprehensive approach positions the solution as a forward-thinking, adaptable tool in the rapidly evolving landscape of digital health and remote testing.
Connecting the dots
We've built a customized AI-solution that offers a comprehensive and adaptable platform which enhances the operational efficiency of laboratories, reduces administrative overheads, and provides a direct, user-friendly channel to patients. Through this innovative approach, Boritea is setting new standards in laboratory management and patient care, driving both efficiency and satisfaction to new heights.
By implementing this bespoke approach, we were not only able to significantly reduce the administrative overheads of laboratories. We also introduces a completely new way of medical self testing.
Automation and streamlined processes minimize manual tasks, allowing laboratory staff to focus on more critical functions. This reduction in administrative burden leads to increased efficiency and productivity within the laboratories, ultimately contributing to better service delivery.
Overall, the project was a huge success and is the new standard for a lot of stakeholders.
A platform for patients
Boritea ensures that sensitive patient data is securely managed and protected and enable a smooth and efficient process for the execution of tests. Furthermore, they help patients to perform tests easily and correctly, which provides international patients with easy-to-use and user-orientated access to the laboratory tests performed.
A platform for laboratories
Labs transmit necessary test data and analyzed results in various formats to other laboratories or patients in a fully automated process. Boritea offers fast and secure transmission of test results to the laboratory for further analysis and enable efficient and secure transmission of test results to doctors or patients. We also relieve labs of administrative tasks and ensure smooth support for your customers.
